Rebuild broken lives and dreams through faith, hope and unconditional love.

Tariro Youth Annual Memorial Day

Each year,we celebrate our Tariro Memorial day on the first Saturday of September. This year ,we were joined by the youth from Tariro For Young People ( TFYP) as well as from our sister home,Shearly Cripps.

As we gathered together as a family to honor the memory of our beloved
relatives ,we knew that this day would be a reminder of the love and legacy they left behind. Our family memorial function was a beautiful blend of tradition, reflection, and celebration, bringing us closer together as we remembered the life and spirit of our dear parents.

We began with mass celebrated by Rev Canon Mutasa ,which was a beautiful tribute to our departed parent’s faith and devotion. As we sang hymns, shared eulogies, and listened to scripture readings, we felt a sense of comfort and solace in the community that surrounded us. The church,
filled with loved ones and friends, became a sanctuary of love and remembrance.

Furthermore, in a symbolic gesture of release and remembrance, we burned our letters which we had written for our loved ones ,watching as the flames transformed our words into ash, carrying our messages to the heavens. This powerful ritual brought us a sense of peace and closure, knowing that our love and memories would forever be etched in our hearts.

At 1.30 pm a sumptuous feast, featuring an array of delicious dishes that family members loved was served .From savory roasts to sweet treats, every bite was a testament to the joy and warmth they brought to our lives. As we shared stories and laughter around the table, their presence was
palpable, and we felt grateful for the time we had together.

As the day drew to a close, we looked around at the faces of our family, friends, and community, knowing that loved ones’ legacy would live on through us. Though they may be gone, their love, wisdom, and spirit continue to guide us, inspiring us to live with purpose, kindness, and
compassion.

In the end, our family memorial function was more than just a tribute to our departed parents ; it was a testament to the transformative power of love, memory, and community. As we move forward, we carry their memories with us, cherishing the lessons they taught us and the love they shared with us.

Tariro year begins in September and a theme to guide through the year is always set at a retreat held each August. This year’s theme is titled:Cultivating humility, practicing gentleness and celebrating gratitude.

Humility:
It is a quality of being modest, unassuming, and willing to learn from others. It is also a vital virtue in personal growth, relationships, and leadership.

Characteristics of Humility includes:-
1. Recognizing one’s limitations and weaknesses
2. being open to feedback and criticism
3. Valuing others perspectives and contributions
4. Avoiding pride, arrogance, and self-importance
5. Being willing to serve and put others first.
6. Embracing simplicity and avoiding pretentiousness.
7. Being accountable and taking responsibility for mistakes.
Cultivating humility means intentionally developing and practicing humility in your life.

What the bible says about humility:-
 ” Humility is the fear of the Lord and its wages are riches, honor and life.” (Proverbs 22:4)
 With Pride comes disgrace but with Humility comes wisdom (Proverbs 11 vs 2)
 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe
yourselves with humility towards one another because “God opposes the proud but shows
favor to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5)
Above all humility is a journey, not a destination. It’s a continuous process of self-reflection,
growth, and learning.

Gentleness:
Is a quality of being kind and compassionate that is showing care and respect for others in the way that you act and speak.

Characteristics of practicing gentleness includes:-
1. Showing care and concern for others’ feelings and well-being.
2. Being tender and compassionate in interactions.
3. Using soft and calm tone of voice
4. Moving with quiet and deliberate actions
5. Avoiding harshness, roughness, or violence
6. Practicing self-control and patience
7. Being willing to listen and understand others perspectives
8. Showing empathy and understanding towards others struggles
What does the bible say about gentleness:-
 (Galatians 5:22-23 -” But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness,
gentleness and self-control” ) enables us to treat others with kindness, compassion, and
understanding. Gentleness is a reflection of God’s love and care for us, and it allows us to respond
to challenging situations with grace and wisdom (Isaiah 40:11)
Let’s take in mind that gentleness is a choice and a practice that can be developed over time with
intention and effort.

Gratitude:
It is the quality of being thankful and appreciative for the good things in our lives (having a roof
over our head, food on the table and being able to go to school).

Characteristics of gratitude includes:-
1. Recognizing and acknowledging the positive aspects of life.
2. Appreciating the people, experiences, and circumstances that bring joy and benefits.

3. Expressing thanks and praise for the good things received.
4. Valuing and cherishing the blessings and gifts in life.
5. Focusing on the present moment and its opportunities.
6. Cultivating a positive and optimistic mindset.
7. Embracing the beauty and goodness in life.

What does the bible say about gratitude?
 ” Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ J esus. (1
Thessalonians 5:18)
 Giving thanks always for all things to god the father in the name of our Lord J esus Christ
(Ephesians 5:20). It helps us focus on the good in our lives, no matter how small. By
expressing thanks, we acknowledge God’s sovereignty, provision, and love
Let us remember that gratitude is a muscle that can be developed with practice, patience, and intention.

In conclusion,as we weave these threads together Humility, Gentleness, and Gratitude we create a tapestry of profound growth, deeper connections, and a more compassionate world. May this year be a transformative journey of embracing our shared humanity, nurturing our spirits, and celebrating the beauty of life, all grounded in God’slove and wisdom.
