Every heart sings a song, incomplete, until another heart whispers back. Those who wish to sing always find a song. At the touch of a lover, everyone becomes a poet. What greater thing is there for two human souls, than to feel that they are joined for life? Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.
October the 27th was our day again the TYP family as our dear sister Glenda tied a knot with Shadreck Chigango. Every0ne was neatly dressed and the smiles were saying it all without speaking, because that was the day the Lord had prepared for our sister. Our excitement and joy was amplified by the fact that Glenda is the elderly sister in the family and she set a good example to her young sisters. Swan Creek was the venue and its beautiful landscape welcomed us, only adding to the elegant clothes everyone wore for this special day.
The ceremony started at around 10am, with Rev, Fr Mazulu as the leading celebrant. The bible readings were from the book of John chapter 2 vs 1 – 5. Rev. Fr. Mazula preached a very powerful sermon for the service as he wedded the couple. His message to their infant marriage was merely that of blessings and love. He said, a successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person. And he added that, True love is not a strong, fiery, impetuous passion. It is, in the contrary, an element calm and deep. It looks beyond mere externals, and is attracted by qualities alone. It is wise and discriminating, and its devotion is real and abiding.
Glenda came escorted by her brother, Fidelis, and Rev. Fr Mutasa, our father. It was one of the most beautiful moment of the day, as we watching them walking slowly towards the celebrant. The TYP choir couldn’t stop singing and dancing for their sister as she waved to them. The former assumed the paternal position as he gave the wedding blessing to Shadreck.
As it was also our special day, we took pride in participating in the choir and ushering of the overall event. Happiness is what made the Tariro family more pretty because they were like mirrors of happiness as they all reflected happiness. After the wedding service, we all savoured on the delicious food the catering team had prepared.
The speeches started at around 2pm and the Chigango family was given a chance first. They were very happy to stand before the crowd and acknowledge the goodness of God. It was a very joyous time as Shadreck’s mothers couldn’t stop ululating and clapping. Fidelis Farirepi, a brother to Glenda was also given a chance. He was also happy to congratulate her sister and he admitted the greatness of God.
Then “Baba”, Rev. Canon Mutasa was given a chance to congratulate his daughter. He delivered a special message to the two love birds. He said, let there be spaces in your togetherness, and let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love, let it be rather a moving sea between the shores of your souls. There was an applause of excitement afterwards as Rev Canon Mutasa’s message sinks into the hearts of Glenda and Shadreck.
Loud music was played which pushed everyone into the dance floor. This made it an unforgettable day for everyone. This marked the end of the day.
To Shadreck and Glenda… Marriages is like a garden, take time to grow, but the harvest is rich unto those who patiently and tenderly care for the ground.
