We always look forward to the weekend as TYP family, firstly because it is usually packed with interesting activities and secondly, we get to spend more time together without other commitments such as school or work in the mind. We always start our days with prayer, and this is the same for our weekends followed by chores, which we gladly do as a team with a bit of singing here and there. We also get to do a couple of exercises to keep our health in check. In the afternoon we mostly have choir practise as we sing hymns in different languages such as Shona , English , Ndebele , Swahili, Chewa, Kirundi, Tonga and many others. We enjoy this time very much and we spend it with our lovely Grandma. After a busy week of school and work pressure, we always look forward to this. That’s why we try our best to enjoy the two days at the weekend.
This previous weekend we got to enjoy all of this and spend quality time with Melissa who visited us from Shearly Cripps Children’s Home, run by the Anglican Diocese of Harare, Church of The Province of Central Africa (CPCA) which is in Murehwa. The home was founded in 1963 through the initiative of Anglican Church Reverend Arthur Shearly Cripps .It currently houses 27 children ,12 girls and 15 boys ranging from 5-18 years of age.
Melissa is in form 3 at St John’s Chikwaka High School located in Murehwa. Melissa aspires to be a registered nurse in future and so she received an introduction to career guidance.
We were so happy sharing different things about life as youths. Melissa managed to share with us some different activities and routines that they do at Shearly Cripps and that was fantastic. We managed to learn how to play different games that they play in rural areas. Fortunately, Melissa is blessed with a melodious soprano voice, joined us in our choir practice. She was happy to be part of us during these memorable moments and we’re hoping she’ll join us again soon. Below is beautiful Melissa’s picture.
